Timber Harvesting & Extraction
We provide timber harvesting and extraction services across Gloucestershire and the surrounding counties, focussed on overall woodland improvement whilst ensuring profit for landowners. Operations include both mechanical harvesting and motor-manual methods depending on site requirements or landowner preference.
Mechanical harvesting is carried out using our tracked harvester which can also be quickly converted into an excavator where needed. This means we can create access on remote sites and reinstate areas after harvesting work has been carried out. We extract timber using our forwarder and a powerful tractor mounted winch which means we can efficiently move wood on any type of terrain. All machinery is used by our experienced and highly trained operators.
Our low-impact equipment is used to reduce soil compaction, which helps maintain site condition and encourages faster natural regeneration following our work.
We buy and sell timber, either standing or at roadside, with very competitive rates paid. Alternatively, we can harvest timber directly for the land owners own use. We also offer an on site milling service to convert valuable stems into useable timber.
Woodland Establishment
We provide a complete woodland creation service, from the initial site preparation work through to planting and aftercare. Our highly experienced tree planting team are experts in both woodland creation and restock sites.
We undertake all types of planting including new woodland creation, restocking and hedge planting. Planting is carried out to specification and can be tailored to suit land type, stocking density, and environmental requirements.
Post-planting maintenance is an essential part of successful woodland establishment. We offer both chemical and mechanical weeding services to control competition around new trees. This includes spot-spraying and broadcast spraying, as well as mechanical options using our specialised tracked flail machines. Our range of tracked pedestrian and remote-controlled flails are ideal for extremely difficult terrain whilst also providing an option for sensitive or organic sites where chemical weeding is not an option.
Site preparation is the key to successful tree planting. We offer a range of site specific options for getting areas ready for planting including brash raking, windrowing and mulching. This, along with proper maintenance and after care, provides your new trees with the best chance of quickly growing into high quality woodland and hedging for future generations.
